Study Time Layout

by Brandy Burke

I’m glad that even though my kids are grown and flown, they’re still the subject of all of my layouts – though that means the layouts are fewer and further in between. I just can’t convince myself to back-scrap photos from the past, though I may get to the point where I have no other choice 🙂

In this layout, I used an image of my oldest daughter, now graduated from college, helping my youngest daughter during her first week of freshman year in college with some College Algebra. This took place on our regular standing Sunday. Standing Sunday is summarized as: “We will have food on the table at 1:30PM. Come or don’t.” Sometimes they come, sometimes, they don’t.

Anyway, back to the layout 🙂

This layout uses the following supplies:

I started by laying two strips of black and white striped washi tape down the right hand side of the page followed by a narrow slip of Prima Marketing Paper. Then, I covered them and used Distress Oxide in Fossilized Amber with a fan brush to add a splatter of yellow around the page, but close to where the image would go.

I placed the photo on a 4 1/8X 61/8 piece of deep turquoise card stock and then anchored both of those pieces on to a 4 3/4X 6 3/4 piece of Prima Marketing Paper – the reverse side of the page that I used for the narrow strip down the side.

Then, I used foam tape on three of the four sides of the image mat, leaving the top open. I found a scrap sheet of yellow polk a dot card stock and created a file folder like top stamped with the date of the photo – this houses the journaling that I did for this page and easily slides in and out from behind the photo. From there,  I filled around the photo and top portion of the side bar with various embellishments.
